Dana Moyer '12 scored two goals in the tram's first three games this season, one of which was 4-0 win.

While the women's soccer team may have struggled last season, it seems that already Dana Moyer '12 is proving that she-and her team-is a force to be reckoned with on the field

Moyer has come a long way from her first soccer practice at age four when she asked her coach if she could dribble the ball with her hands. Today, she has started all three of the Leopards games and leads the team, along with Jill Dozier '13, in goals scored, with two to her name. Her first came in the 4-0 win against Delaware State and her second in the heartbreaking overtime loss to Loyola.

Besides possessing immense talent, Moyer is very dedicated to improving and making herself and her teammates better. Head Coach Mick Statham has noticed great development in Moyer over the past year. "She is fitter and stronger than last year and has made a great transition to playing at college speed both with her feet and in her mind," he said.

Like many other student athletes at Lafayette, Moyer came to College Hill searching for both an excellent education as well as the chance to play Division-I soccer. While the college process can be a tedious and time consuming for anyone, it seems that Moyer knew Lafayette was the place for her almost immediately. "As soon as I visited the campus, I loved it," she said.

If being an outstanding athlete was not enough, Moyer has really embraced being involved in other aspects of the Lafayette College life. She is an avid member of the Landis Community Outreach program and tutored at Easton High School, something she plans to continue. Moyer has recently joined Alpha Phi and is excited to explore that facet of student life.

Statham said he believes Moyer will excel in any passion she pursues. "[Moyer] is the kind of person that every day I see her, I am thankful she is part of my life," he said.

Moyer, a double major in Spanish and government and law, is unsure where she is going to end up after her time at Lafayette is over, but luckily for her she still has time to decide. One thing she knows for sure is that she will keep playing the sport she loves. "I would love to keep playing soccer whatever I end up doing." So, expect Moyer to keep dribbling the soccer ball-but now with just her feet.
