Despite registering 13 shots on goal, the Leopards were unable to find the back of the net in a scoreless tie against Temple University. Phil Nelson '10 finished the game with seven saves.

Goalkeeper Phil Nelson '10 recorded his second shutout in three games as the Leopards battled Temple to a 0-0 tie sunday night. The Leopards outshot The Owls 13-11 in the double-overtime affair, but neither team was able to register a goal.

Wayne Maminski '12 led Lafayette with four shots on goal, while Sean Peckham '13 chipped in with threee.

The Leopards defense, which played strong throughout the game, stepped up in overtime as they held the Owls shotless throughout the two exta sessions. The Lafayette offense also improved its play in the extra sessions, registering five shots on goal of their own.

Temple goalkeeper Brett Molon shut down the Leopards throughout the game, almost matching Nelson play for play, finsihing with six saves of his own.

Both Nelson and Peckham were rewarded for their strong play so far this season with Patriot League Honors.

Nelson was named Patriot League Goalie of the Week for the fourth time in his career. He has only allowed one goal in three games this season, playing a key part in the Leopards' strong start this season.

Peckham was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for his efforts this season. He registered a goal and an assist in three games to lead Lafayette in scoring with three points

The Leopards' record now stands at 2-0-1 after three games, a promising start for a team with league title aspirations.

As long as the team's defense and goalkeeping stays strong, Lafayette should be able to continue its winning ways if the offense finds the back of the net. The Leopards are averaging one goal per game, which puts pressure on the defense to play mistake free.

Up next for Lafayette is a weekend home tournament where the Leopards will take on Fordham and Binghamton
