I would never say, 'Well, it's bad, but you have to see it,'" said Tommy Wiseau, director, producer and star of cult hit The Room in a 2009 interview with avclub.com. However, an ever-growing, nation-spanning number of people, including Lafayette College's entire Residence Life staff, would emphatically disagree.
California-based sculptor Loren Madsen visited Lafayette this past week as the third of four guest artist speakers this academic year. His lecture, "Information as Art, Art as Information," focused on not only some of his work, but also that of other artists pursuing systems art.
From March 3-6, College Theater will perform the classic Shakespeare comedy As You Like It. Directed by Professor Michael O'Neill, the play follows Rosalind (Keara McCarthy '10) as she flees from her uncle's kingdom into the Forest of Arden, only to discover other people also hiding in the forest.
Lafayette's art department utilizes an artist in residence program, which invites guest artists to lecture for art classes and work closely with Lafayette students. Lafayette's current artist-in-residence is Janet Taylor Pickett, who will be working primarily at the Experimental Printmaking Institute.
